Monuments in Ruin, Ch. 65

“How does someone salute the most influential band in heavy music? Much like the listeners opinions of the band in question, there are many options that could be chosen. This week we honor the legacy of Black Sabbath. For 47 years they have been referenced as the largest part of the foundation of what has become know as heavy metal. However, their reach can continue be found far beyond one genre of music. Their iconic status is well deserved and highly praised here at KTFT, as well as around the world. Tonight we will happily step into the shadowy arms of four legendary figures that formed one of the greatest bands in history, the mighty Black Sabbath. This is a dual birthday celebration, as we celebrate the release of the self titled Black Sabbath album, we also wish the happiest of birthdays to Mr. Henry Rollins. Cheers!”
Featuring: Black Sabbath, Henry Rollins, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Sleep, Witchcraft and Charles Bradley.

Monuments in Ruin, Ch. 44

Tonight we focus on the tones and aesthetics of what many call Sabbath Worship. It’s not surprising why so many of the records in our heavy music library lean toward the pioneering efforts of Black Sabbath. The plan for this episode is to lightly scratch the surface of this phenomenon with a small number of current artists basking in the vintage riffs, techniques and legacy of a sounds delivered to the world in mass scale over 45 years ago. We are gonna play a few Black Sabbath tunes, as well.
